Multiline IP Sets

Purpose

The Multiline IP Sets form is used to assign a device type, prime directory number, and interconnect number to all MiVoice IP Phones. It is also used to create ACD Hot Desk users and External Hot Desk Agents.

The Media Access Control (MAC) address registers the IP devices with the system. Without the MAC, the device is not recognized by the system and therefore will not boot up.

NOTE: When the Automatic DN Selection method is used to register an IP phone as a Userless Device, the system auto-populates all required fields in this form, including the directory number. See Registering and Auto-provisioning Multiline IP Telephones without a DN for details. You can change the configuration values after the device is registered.

Use this form when performing the following tasks:

Default Value

Device ID

System-generated, protected field. Identifies the IP telephone.

NOTE: The form will only display the number of IP devices that have been purchased (up to a maximum of 2000 IP devices). You can only program the purchased number of IP telephones.

Hot Desk User

No

Device Type

Select the attached device type. This field does not apply if the "Hot Desk User" field is set to "Yes".

NOTES

  • The "UC Endpoint" device type is used to provision unified communication clients such as the MiVoice Conference Unit and MiVoice Video Unit and MiVoice Video Unit.

  • The 5505 SIP Phone is in the list even though it is a single-line set.

  • You cannot change the device type 'Generic SIP Phone' if the device is  configured as a Single Line Phone in the User and Services Configuration form. Such attempt generates the following error message: Invalid Device Type for Single Line Phone.

Auxiliary Module

Select a PKM model or LIM if the set has a Line Interface Module (not supported on 69xx series phones).

The PKM M695 is compatible with the 69xx series phones (excluding 6970, 6905 and 6910). The other PKMs are compatible with 53xx phones.

See the Feature-Phone Matrix (PDF or Microsoft Excel version) for a list of phones that support PKMs and LIMs.

None

Number

Enter a unique internal directory number up to seven digits in length assigned to the device.

This field is auto-populated when using the Automatic DN Selection method to register IP phones as a Userless Device. See Registering and Auto-provisioning Multiline IP Telephones without a DN.

NOTES

  • Do not include * or # in the directory numbers of 5302 IP Phones.

  • Directory numbers for Hot desking devices can contain asterisks (*) but not #.

Blank

Local-only DN

Allows you to specify the directory number as a local-only directory number in a cluster.

Not Selected

User PIN

Enter a password for the hot desk user or the Phone Lock feature. This field is available if the Hot Desk User or Generic SIP User field is set to "Yes". Only digits (0 to 9) are permitted. The PIN code is masked for privacy.

Blank

Confirm User PIN

Re-enter the password to confirm.

SIP Password

Enter a password for the SIP phone up to 26 ASCII characters including alphanumeric and special characters. The password is used by SIP for Registration authentication, Call authentication, and Subscription (MWI) authentication.

NOTES

  • SIP Hot Desk Users are authenticated using the User PIN.

  • To provision a single strong password for all sets or a group of sets, use the User and Service Templates form or the range programming option in this form.

  • On database restores and software upgrades the SIP Password field is populated with the User PIN associated with the user/device/template from the old database.

  • Resilient users on pre-MCD 6.0 SP2 systems receive a blank SIP Password when synchronized by SDS to an MCD 6.0 SP2 or later system. No conversion of User PIN to SIP Password is done. SIP registration and calls will work but are not authenticated.

  • If a 12.0 SP2 user is shared with a pre 12.0 SP2 system, the administrator should provision both the SIP Password and the User PIN with the same data. Only the User PIN will be shared with the older system. In this manner the SIP phone can be resilient on both systems (on the newer one it will use the SIP Password, on the older it will use the User PIN).

Blank

Confirm SIP Password

Re-enter the password to confirm.

Sync with SIP-DECT Manager

Select this check box to sync changes to a SIP-DECT device record with the SIP DECT Manager (see SIP-DECT OM System Manual Administration Guide for more information about the SIP-DECT Manager).

NOTE: If SIP-DECT device is added or modified through this form, then the Name field on the SIP-DECT Manager is left unchanged or blank.

False

ACD Enabled

Select "Yes" if the telephone is to be an ACD set. This field cannot be changed to "No" if the telephone is part of an ACD hunt group nor to "Yes" while a Hot Desk user is logged into the device. This field does not apply if the "Hot Desk User" field is set to "Yes". If an ACD set has Hot Desk Login Accept enabled in the Class of Service Options form, Hot Desk Login will fail.

NOTES

No

Line Type

System-generated, protected field. Contains a default value of "not assigned". Once the line is programmed, the field shows "single line". Once a group is created, the field shows either "key system" or "multicall" as appropriate.

Interconnect Number

Enter a number, between 1 and 64, that references an entry in Interconnect Restriction form.

Blank

External Hot Desk User License

Select "Yes" if the internal directory number is associated with an External Hot Desk user or External Hot Desk Agent. Otherwise, select "No".

No

Hot Desk User External Dialing Prefix

Enter "9" or other prefix digit(s) required to dial out to the External Hot Desk or External Hot Desk Agent device.

Blank

Hot Desk User External Number

Enter the telephone number of the External Hot Desk or External Host Desk Agent device. Valid entries are digits 0-9, #, * and P for a pause.

NOTES

  • The combined length of the external dialing prefix and external number cannot exceed 26 digits.

  • Non-dialable digits such as pauses in an external number are not shared by SDS. Only the digits before the non-dialable digits are shared. For example, in the digit string 6135922122#PP1000 the shared portion is 6135922122. If multiple EHDU/EDHA have this number provisioned conflicts will occur. To resolve conflicts, the caller is prompted for a DN and PIN. The DN prompt is a single camp-on beep followed by dial tone. After successfully entering the DN, the user hears two more camp-on beeps, followed by dial tone.

  • Pauses are typically required when the EHDU destination is on another vendor's PBX. The digits before the first “P” must be a complete ARS route that specifies either the number of digits to follow or a # to indicate the end of the dial string.

Blank

Language

System-generated, protected field. Indicates the telephone operating language.

Max Call History Records

Use this field to set the maximum number of call history records that can be stored for a set.

The default value for this field is set in the System Options form.

NOTE: The main view of the MultiLine IP Sets form does not list the MAC addresses. The MAC addresses only appear in the Add, Change, and Delete views of the form.

Blank

However, this option does not lock the system-controlled (Superkey) key programming.

NOTE: Lock Default Configuration cannot be enabled on ACD agents.
